RK036 : Elixir of Youth

Hello friends ! Enjoy one Rip Kirby classic in HQ . It has been scanned by my father .

Brief details about this comic from  IP comics source :

RK036 Elixir of Youth
Original run in papers: 30 Jul 1956 - 20 Oct 1956
Story: Alex Raymond  Art: Alex Raymond
The story:
Returning from an evening at the Butler’s Club, Desmond relays his worries to Rip that a colleague’s employer, the old and wealthy recluse Hettie Hilton, is showing an unhealthy interest in a brief acquaintance’s “scientific” research into age loss.
Suspecting that the old lady is about to fall victim to an elaborate version of the “Fountain of Youth” yarn, Rip decides to monitor the situation through Desmond, unaware that the elixir has already met with success...

Don’t Miss:
• The first appearance of Desmond’s butler colleague Wiggers (as “Underwood”)
• Pancake Murgatroyd’s miracle
• Miss Nelson’s transformation
• A forgotten lorgnette and generous gulps of Sarsaparilla

One small request. Since you now have the original Rip Kirbys, is it possible to put out a mapping of those and the ones published by IJC?

Delboj:

Yes. Read below.

What do you want to know ?
Their contents ?

These are Mandrake in two parts:
The Under Sea Killer Monster - Part I and Part II

You can get them from torrents or eSnips: on google, type "The Under Sea Killer Monster" and click in the magnifying glass to get the URLs.

These are not yet HiRes scans (as far as I know).

I send a comment, but it was removed :(
I will send the same comment, again.

Emile (Albert Chame):

I'm replying about your comment to Delboj.
I asked Delboj to write all the comments regarding Rip Kirby on this blog and all other IJC blogs about Rip Kirby stories published by Indrajal Comics. The reason was that I didn't had Gmail account in the first place.

October 14, 2011 at 6:58 AM

I created in Excel a complete and comprehensive list of all Rip Kirby stories published by Indrajal Comics:
http://www.mediafire.com/?4tde7ijcjw0crbe

There are in total:
37 different Rip Kirby stories (all by John Prentice) published in 63 IJC Rip Kirby numbers.

October 14, 2011 at 6:59 AM

- 15 Rip Kirby stories (of total 37 Rip Kirby stories) are in one part as a single story = 15 IJC Rip Kirby numbers (of total 63 IJC Rip Kirby numbers);
- 18 Rip Kirby stories (of total 37 Rip Kirby stories) are in two parts as the 2nd story (after Phantom or Mandrake as the 1st story) = 36 IJC Rip Kirby numbers (of total 63 IJC Rip Kirby numbers);
- 4 Rip Kirby stories (of total 37 Rip Kirby stories) are in three parts as the 2nd story (after Phantom or Mandrake as the 1st story) = 12 IJC Rip Kirby numbers (of total 63 IJC Rip Kirby numbers).

October 14, 2011 at 7:01 AM

The complete IJC numbers are in 32 pages, but in some scans of IJC there are only the pages 1-16 or the 1st part (Phantom or Mandrake), but the 2nd part is missing (the pages 17-32).

October 14, 2011 at 7:03 AM

Does anybody have complete scans (32 pages) for the English version of Indrajal Comics:
V25N14 The Undersea Killer Monster Part 1 Mandrake
V25N15 The Undersea Killer Monster Part 2 Mandrake
The 1st story is a Mandrake story: "The Undersea Killer Monster", but I'm 99% sure that the 2nd story is Rip Kirby. I have the Hindu scans of a 2nd part Rip Kirby IJC story called "Maut Ki Gufa" (9 pages in the 1st part and 9 pages in the 2nd part) and that is the Rip Kirby story #113 (1977-12-05 / 1978-02-18) and in the English title should be "The Cave of Death". I think that "Maut Ki Gufa" in two parts is in V25N14 and V25N15 as the 2nd story.

October 14, 2011 at 7:04 AM

I need also complete scans (32 pages) for the English version of Indrajal Comics:
V25N09 The Masked Avenger Part 2 Phantom
V25N10 The Masked Avenger Part 3 Phantom
V25N28 The Snake Goddess Part 2 Phantom
V26N14 The Wizard’s Curse Part 2 Mandrake

This is a Serbo-Croatian complete list of Rip Kirby titles published in Yugoslavia:
http://forum.stripovi.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16072
I'm the author of this list.

October 14, 2011 at 7:07 AM

It is impossible in this blog to post a LONG comment. That was the reason of my 6 parts comment to Emile (Albert Chame).

Hi SainT,

All 803 Indrajal issues have been scanned and shared in a first run (*)

So, many people have the whole run (but sometimes incomplete, coverless, etc.)

The things have been improved dramatically since the days of "forum.stripovi.com" as you can see checking in this blogspot ;-)

There was a year ago (or so), people started to re-scan them in HiRes AND complete from issue 1, to 382 (the most recent shared issue), I do not have checked if there are missing (for the moment) issues between these numbers.

Back in the first run of scans, I created a specialized application to be able to track data from the ongoing share of Indrajal Comics scans. I placed below one of the comment text.

In my initial list of Rip Kirby, I shared only Rip Kirby cover titles generated by that software AND I forgot the Rip Kirby we get as second story.

Indrajal Comics

1988-02-28 | 1988-03-05
The Phantom
The Masked Avenger - Part II

J.P. Kerawala
Avijit Chatterjee
29. Animarvels (21, 22)
31. Chimpoo by Shehab

32 pages.

At last, have you checked the torrents I talked earlier ?

Emile

(*) Low or standard resolution and some issues are incomplete (when incomplete, usually the first [cover] story only).

Hi Emile (Albert Chame),

What did you mean with these words:
"The things have been improved dramatically since the days of "forum.stripovi.com""

Did you mean since the days of former Yugoslavia?

October 15, 2011 at 6:32 AM

If that was your meaning, then...
After Yugoslavia disintegrated in the early 1990s, four (of six) independent new countries continued publishing Rip Kirby. The last four editions in the list were completely new editions and didn't exist in former Yugoslavia. Only Politikin Zabavnik is an old edition from the yugoslavian days and sadly, only Politikin Zabavnik is still existing from these five editions now.

October 15, 2011 at 6:33 AM

After disintegration of Yugoslavia, appeared these editions with Rip Kirby:
POLITIKIN ZABAVNIK = in total 26 numbers (from Serbia)
ĆAO ALMANAH = in total 3 numbers (from Serbia)
STRIPOTEKA (HRVATSKA STRIP REVIJA) = in total 2 numbers (from Croatia)
ABC REVIJA = in total 1 number (from Bosnia and Herzegovina)
ILUSTRIRAN ZABAVNIK = in total 7 numbers (from Macedonia)

October 15, 2011 at 6:34 AM

As you can see in:
http://forum.stripovi.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16072
... only the edition "Ilustriran Zabavnik" is missing in that list, because Macedonian language is different from Serbo-Croatian languages.

So, with these words:
"Serbo-Croatian complete list of Rip Kirby titles published in Yugoslavia"
... I meant also after disintegration of Yugoslavia and the region of former Yugoslavia.

October 15, 2011 at 6:35 AM

For information:
1. Every single story by Alex Raymond was published in Yugoslavia: (#1 - #36) = in total 36 stories.
2. These stories by John Prentice were published in Yugoslavia: (#36 - #92), (#94 - #116), (#118), (#120 - #137), (#145) = in total 100 stories.
3. These stories by John Prentice were not published in Yugoslavia: (#93), (#117), (#119), (#138 - #144), (#146 - #197) = in total 62 stories.

October 15, 2011 at 6:36 AM

Yes, I was involved into collecting for Rip Kirby IJC numbers from other IJC blogs two and half years ago. I have complete scans (32 pages) of all IJC numbers with Rip Kirby, except V25N14 and V25N15 (61 of total 63 IJC numbers). I don't think there are more than 63 IJC numbers with Rip Kirby. That is the reason why I'm asking for these two scans. I'm asking also for the complete scans (32 pages) of V25N09, V25N10, V25N28 and V26N14, because there is a very small chance (1%), there is a Rip Kirby as a 2nd story.

October 15, 2011 at 6:36 AM

I'm not much infvolved into torrents, but on 23 October 2010, I found torrents for V25N14 and V25N15 (the size was 36.96MB and 17.32MB), but there was 1st story only. The 2nd story is missing in every scans I found in 2009 and 2010, including eSnips. Unfortunately, there is no improvement since 2009. The complete scans for V25N14 and V25N15 are still missing. Is there anybody who can scan V25N14 and V25N15?

October 15, 2011 at 6:43 AM

What do you think of my IJC Rip Kirby Excel table, Emile?
http://www.mediafire.com/?4tde7ijcjw0crbe
The stories in white cells are single Rip Kirby stories. The stories in yellow cells are two and three parts Rip Kirby stories. Only the Rip Kirby story "The Cave of Death" which is in V25N14 and V25N15 is marked RED.
