This was a novel by Thakazhi Shivasankara Pillai, a Jnanapeetam award winning novelist. The film version became the first Malayalam movie to win the Best film award and the melodious music is even today a big hit after 45 years.
In fact many of the people who handled various aspects of the film were not from Kerala. Stupendous photography by Marcus Bartley (Australia), Music by Salil Chowdhry, Editing by Hrishikesh Mukerjee and so on.
